We are excited to welcome two resident dog trainers to Dragonfly Dog: Claire (Northk9 Training) and Jemma (Ruffmutz Training & Behaviour). Our Canine Workshops will enable you to work with your dog to bring out the best in them. Classes will be updated regularly.

This is a foundation and confidence building class, aimed at getting you and your puppy off to a great start with basic training like recall, general manners around other dogs and people, and walking on a lead.

Suitable for all puppies under 6 months old!

You will learn:

  • Come along and get started on those all important foundations like recall, leave it, and loose lead walking

  • Chat through those common puppy topics like house-training, socialisation, and puppy nipping/biting

  • Help build your puppy’s confidence around new people and dog

Dragonfly Good Dog Scheme - Bronze

Wednesday 17th April

A nice follow on from the Puppy Smart Course, or suitable for older dogs with some foundation training. We will be continuing to build on the basic skills learned. Dogs must be social and able to work in a group setting.

Got an older dog who’s new to training? Take a peek at our Good Dog Foundation Course. The Dragonfly Good Dog scheme is a progression scheme and will lead on to further levels you can work through, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum 

You will learn:

  • How to extend loose lead walking including around dogs and people

  • Stays

  • To build and extend recall with some distractions

  • Polite greetings around people

  • Extend the leave it behaviour

  • Grooming and handling of your dog

  • Introducing waits and breaks

Loose Lead & Recall Skills Workshop

Monday 15th April 2024

You will learn:

  • Reward and motivation

  • Engagement and focus for the big wide world

  • Multiple methods of LL walking

  • Progressing from training into real life

  • Cues and body language

  • Safe use of long lines

  • Using play in recall

This 90 minute workshop will help you to understand why your dog pulls on the lead, and we will work through different methods of training to help you gain loose lead walking skills.

Suitable for any age of age of dog, dogs must be social to attend, if lead walking is a problem you are struggling with this is the ideal workshop for you.

Scent Stars is our Scent Detection training programme. Training covers the theory and practical elements of scent detection, and teaches you how to develop your dog’s natural scent skills with increasing challenges as you progress. Training for dogs and owners begins in our Level 1 Scent Stars course, right through to three levels of progression in our Scent Stars programme.

Scent Stars Level 1 is the entry level course, for all the budding detection teams out there. Scent Stars Level 2 is for those dogs who have completed their Level 1 to build on the skills they have learned to a more advanced level.

You will learn:

  • Motivation to search

  • Basic theory of scent

  • Basic search pattern

  • Equipment focus

  • The start of an indication

  • Choosing and imprinting on a scent

For this course you will need:

Scent Games
Fun Workshop

Training Terms & Conditions

Please read our terms and conditions before booking your appointment! 


  1. Female dogs may not use the centre when in heat.

  2. Dogs displaying symptoms of illness may not use the centre (please allow 48 hours after a bout of diarrhoea or vomiting).

  3. Ensure dog is toileted before coming inside (although obviously accidents happen) 

  4. I agree to clean up any mess that my dog makes within the centre or in the car park.

  5. I acknowledge that video and audio CCTV is in use 24 hours within the centre and the car park.

  6. Dogs must be social to attend classes.

  7. Please try and avoid too much playing on lead outside before class as it affects concentration.

  8. Dogs should display a correct ID tag as per law, (surname, home address and contact number).

  9. If a dog is not of suitable temperament for group classes, you will be removed from class and we will discuss alternative options.

  10. Children under 12 not allowed to handle dogs in class, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult (terms of our insurance) 

  11. 1 dog per handler 

  12. Payment for training will be made at time of booking otherwise booking is not guaranteed.

  13. Cancellations must be received no later than 48 hours before booking time or the payment is non-refundable.

  14. No shows are non-refundable.
